Huntington Fire Department to Celebrate Its History With Parade, Fair

The Huntington Fire Department will celebrate its 175th anniversary Saturday with a parade and fair.

The parade will move off from Town Hall on Main Street  at 4 p.m. and continue on to department headquarters on Leverich Place. The fair gets underway at 5 p.m.

Henry Gerdes, 92, who joined the department in 1939, will serve as parade grand marshall.

Suffolk County police are warning of road closures to accommodate the parade on Saturday.  Main Street will be closed between Park Avenue and West Neck Road and Wall Street will be closed between Main Street and Creek Road between 3 p.m. and approximately 7 p.m.  Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes.
