The holiday parade will return to Huntington on Nov.26  but will shift east from Wall Street to Town Hall and Heckscher Park.

The 12th annual parade, dubbed “the Holiday Express,” will include Santa Claus, Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti and a Christmas tree lighting in Heckscher Park.

The celebration will get underway at Main Street and Irwin Place, in front of Town Hall, at 4:30 p.m. and feature performances by Dancin’ Feet. The parade will start at 5 p.m. at the Big H Shopping Center on New York Avenue and will proceed north to Main Street and then east on Main Street to Sabbath Day Path.

The parade will include competitions for the best floats in several categories, with judging based on how well they follow the theme of the parade, “Holiday Express”. The winning department gets to choose who will play Santa Claus in the 2023 parade. Businesses and organizations are also encouraged to participate.

Free parking will be available in the municipal parking lots in Huntington Village, Huntington Town Hall, and John J. Flanagan Center. Free parking will also be available at the Huntington LIRR Train Station Church Street Parking Lot with a free HART Bus shuttle into the village from 3:00PM to 9:00PM.

“We are happy and excited to announce that the 2022 Holiday Parade has been reimagined to include live entertainment and our annual tree lighting ceremony in the Town’s famed Heckscher Park,” said Supervisor Ed Smyth. “I encourage residents and visitors alike to shop our local merchants on Small Business Saturday, then join us for the pre-parade entertainment kicking off at 5PM”

To participate in the parade, download a 2022 Holiday Parade Application and return it to Huntington Manor Fire Department, ATTN: Holiday Parade Committee, 1650 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, NY 11746 by Nov.15.

Interactive Parade Map

The town will host the Interactive Parade Map created by Town GIS staff. Participating businesses will be listed on the Parade Map, which can be accessed on any smartphone, computer, laptop, tablet, or other device.

Shoppers will be able to browse the interactive Holiday Parade Map, full of giveaways and special offers related to Small Business Saturday and the Holiday Parade. The map also allows the user to see the location of entertainment, parking, transportation information and more. At the end of the holiday season, the Parade Map becomes the Business Map.

Any merchant wishing to be featured on the app and offer deals for the Holiday Season can email [email protected] by Nov. 18.
