Huntington Hospital Adds to Women’s Care Teams

Huntington Hospital has added an additional certified lactation consultant and two more midwives to its team to further expand the gynecologic and obstetrical care options for women in Suffolk County.

Certified lactation consultants have been trained to assist women in meeting their breastfeeding goals. Huntington Hospital’s newest lactation consultant is Maribel Garcia, IBCLC. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lehman College and gained her lactation consultant education through North Central Bronx Hospital. She is fluent in Spanish and available to help with latching and other breastfeeding tips as well as to provide help with breast pumps.

Midwives are licensed, independent health care practitioners who offer services to women from adolescence to menopause and through all of the stages of their lives, including pregnancy and childbirth. Midwives follow the practice guidelines set out by their professional organization, the American College of Nurse Midwives.

Huntington Hospital’s two new midwives are Lindsay Price, CNM, and Jessica Hilsenroth, CNM. Price received her master of science degree in nurse midwifery from Yale University after her bachelor’s degree in nursing from University of Massachusetts Amherst. She was previously a midwife at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and Community Health Network.

Hilsenroth received her master of science degree in nurse midwifery from Stony Brook University after she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee. She was previously a midwife and nurse practitioner at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Huntington Hospital is part of the Northwell Health system.
