Huntington Hospital Appoints Senior Director of Development

The new senior director of development at Huntington Hospital has the responsibility of fundraising money to better the local health institution with different campaigns and goals.

Formerly the executive director of Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures (FACES) at NYU Langone Health in Manhattan, Pamela Mohr has also previously spent time at the American Cancer Center Society, Ernst & Young and UJA-Federation.

With her role at Huntington Hospital, she works with community philanthropists to help them meet their personal charitable goals through monetary donations to the hospital and support its myriad programs that include cancer care, orthopedics and obstetrics and gynecology.

“We make sure the goals come true,” Mohr said, “and I’m looking to build strong relationships with local leaders in the Huntington community.”

A resident of Plainview, Mohr said that working with Huntington Hospital is special to her because growing up, she often visited the village and spent many days and nice embracing the food and culture. She added that she’s looking forward to being back.

“I want to really immerse myself in the community,” she said.

Right now Mohr has been working on several fundraising projects to better the hospital. She said that they are working to create a long-term plan to build a comprehensive cancer center at Huntington.

“It’s going to treat everything, the whole person,” she said. “It’s going to be about a five-year plan,” she added, “But we’re working on fundraising for it.”

Northwell Health publicly launched its seven-year, $1 billion system-wide campaign in October, which supports capital projects, improves hospitals and clinical programs, advances research, and funds endowments for teaching and research initiatives.

The hospital’s campaign will focus on growing the hospital’s cancer services and its highly regarded orthopedics department, among other areas.

On Nov. 21, the Social (formerly known as the Gala) will be held at the Paramount with funds and donations going toward the soon-to-be innovative Cancer Center of Excellence that will focus on prevention, treatment, social work, psychology, nutrition and survivorship.

“We need to tell our story,” she said, “to help patients receive care in their own backyard and provide life saving opportunities.”
