Huntington Hospital’s 2018 gala honoring James Romanelli, MD, raised nearly $400,000 to benefit the hospital’s interventional radiology and hyperbaric and wound care programs.
The event celebrated philanthropic support for innovations at Huntington Hospital and throughout Northwell Health. The gala was also the local public launch of Northwell’s $1 billion Outpacing the Impossible Campaign, its first system-wide fundraising campaign to propel innovations. Proceeds from the gala – which is part of the campaign – will provide local communities with greater access to high-quality care by helping to advance services and programs at Huntington Hospital.
“The generous donations raised at this year’s gala will help Huntington Hospital continue to provide state-of-the-art healthcare to the residents of Suffolk County,” said Nick Fitterman, MD, executive director of Huntington Hospital. “We greatly appreciate this philanthropic support.”
Dr. Romanelli is the hospital’s chief of staff and a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He has been caring for patients at Huntington Hospital since the 1990s and was the hospital’s chief of surgery from 2000 to 2012. He lives in Cold Spring Harbor.
The 2018 gala was held at Pine Hollow Country Club on November 30. The gala committee was co-chaired by Katherine Cirelli, Rachel Spencer and Melissa Stark, and included Amy Brogan; Elizabeth Chau, MD; Kris Colleluori; Debbie Doyle; Kelly Facella; Stan Gale; Betsy Giamo; Jen Levinson; Ali Mitchell; Erin Monti; Patricia Petersen; Dr. Goodie Shareeff; Danielle Siano; Abby Sheeline; and Bonnie Williamson.
The Outpacing the Impossible campaign supports capital projects, improves hospitals and clinical programs, advances research and funds endowment for teaching and research initiatives. The campaign includes all funds given by individual donors, corporations and foundations. Donors to Northwell have given nearly $500 million since the campaign’s inception on January 1, 2016.
