Huntington Hospital to Recognize 2 at Golf Classic

The 2019 Huntington Hospital Golf Classic,  part of Northwell Health’s Outpacing the Impossible campaign, will honor two local businessmen.

Sal Ferro, president and CEO of Alure Home Improvements, and JC Steel’s Kris Amplo, will be the honorees at the June 25 event at the Nassau Country Club and The Creek Club in Locust Valley.

Northwell’s $1B Outpacing the Impossible campaign supports capital projects, improves hospitals and clinical programs, advances research and funds endowment for teaching and research initiatives.

“These two gentlemen’s generosity with their time, talents and treasure will be of great assistance to helping Huntington Hospital maintain the top-tier quality Mr. Ferro and Mr. Amplo have experienced at the hospital,” said Nick Fitterman, MD, executive director of Huntington Hospital. “We greatly appreciate all of their efforts.”

Ferro and his East Meadow-based business have been featured in many publications and television programs, including completing eight projects for ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” He is the chair of the Long Island Builders Institute. In addition, Mr. Ferro is involved in a variety of philanthropic endeavors, from the
Ferro Foundation to the Clark Gillies Foundation, among others. He is married to Molly and they
share six children.

“I have always had a top-shelf experience at Huntington Hospital,” said Ferro, whose relationship with the hospital has been both as a patient and philanthropic supporter. “The staff treats its patients with compassion and dignity.”

Amplo is a vice president of JC Steel in Bohemia, which has completed a number of projects for Northwell Health including Huntington Hospital’s new, state-of-the-art emergency department. He is also the treasurer of Allied Building Metal Industries, on the board of the Subcontractors Trade Association and chair and founder of the Long Island Steel Trade Association. He is also a board member of the Ferro Foundation and the Clark Gillies Foundation.

“People don’t seem to realize how great Huntington Hospital is,” said Mr. Amplo, whose relationship with Huntington Hospital runs deep. He was born there. “I was astounded by the hospital’s beautiful, clean appearance and have been impressed by how it has been run recently. It keeps getting better every day, which is inspiring.”
