Huntington Man Accused of DWI, Striking Pedestrian in Bay Shore

A Huntington man was accused of driving while intoxicated after an accident in Bay Shore that left a  pedestrian critically injured.

Suffolk police said Edwin Rolando Santos-Romero was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry north on Fifth Avenue when his vehicle struck a pedestrian trying to cross the street near Bailey Avenue at approximately 9:45 p.m. The victim, Jose Reyes, 46, of Bay Shore, was taken  by Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was listed in critical condition.

Santos-Romero, 23, was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was being held overnight at the Third Precinct station house and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Sunday.
