Huntington Man Charged with Animal Cruelty

A Huntington man has been charged with two counts of animal neglect for failing to provide enough food for his dogs.

Detectives with the Suffolk County SPCA on Friday charged William Woods Jr., 55, of Huntington, with two counts of animal neglect for failure to provide proper sustenance to his two pit bull canines. Woods was charged with animal cruelty on Friday, Oct. 12.

A 2-year-old female pit bull and a 2-year-old male pit bull were found emaciated, officials said. The dogs were removed to the Huntington Town Shelter. Four 3-month-old pit bulls found in his possession also were removed from the property.

Woods is scheduled to appear in 1st District Court on Dec. 12.

Animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County, said Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
