Huntington Manor FD Elects New Leaders

The Huntington Manor Fire Department recently elected new leaders.

Elected were:1st Assistant Chief Chuck Brady, Chief of Department Jon Hoffmann, 2nd Assistant Chief Jim Glidden and 3rd Assistant Chief Brian Christian.

All chiefs are certified in firefighting, heavy rescue, confined space rescue, haz mat,and incident command. The current chiefs have over 80 years experience between them.

New Halesite Chief

In addition, the Halesite Fire Department will swear in new chief James Magerle on Jan. 1.

Magerle is the 12th member of his family to serve as a firefighter in the department.

Jamie’s grandfather was a member in the 1950’s. His father Peter Magerle was a chief, as were Jamie’s two brothers Pete and Andy. His uncles Dennis Magerle and Richard Colligan were also chiefs. His cousin Mike Magerle served as chief and his cousin Craig Colligan was a captain. Nine members of the Magerle family  are active in the department, including Jamie’s nephews Mathew and Pete Jr., and his niece Casey.Jamie’s daughter Kaitlyn is a member of the Halesite Juniors.

Magerle has served as an assistant chief for the last six years. Before that, he was a company captain, lieutenant, firefighter and EMT. He joined the all-
