Huntington MS-13 Member Faces Sentencing in Boston Shooting

Rogelio Alvarado, 23, an MS-13 gang member living in Huntington, will face sentencing Monday in the shooting of two people in Boston two years ago.

The Boston Globe reported that he was convicted last week of shooting a rival gang member and a bystander at a train station.

Alvarado was originally from Boston.

He was found guilty of two counts of assault and battery by discharging a firearm and single counts of unlawfully possessing a firearm and unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, the Suffolk  (Mass.) district attorney’s office said in a statement.

He was acquitted of an additional count of armed assault with intent to murder, the statement said.

The Globe said that Alvarado had a gang-related conflict with a 29-year-old passenger on the train  on Jan. 19, 2016. The two men got off the train at Maverick Station in East Boston, where Alvarado shot the man twice at close range. A man leaving the train was grazed by a bullet to his face, the statement said. Both men survived.

Alvarado fled the train station and took a taxi back to New York, officials said. A warrant for his arrest was issued by Boston Transit Police on Jan. 25.

He was arrested on Long Island on July 12, 2017, after driving the wrong way on a road, forcing other drivers off the road, prosecutors said.
