Huntington Republicans to Celebrate Victories

Huntington Republicans will celebrate their sweep of town offices and more with a party Tuesday night in East Northport.

In November’s election, they held onto the supervisor’s job, with Town Councilman Ed Smyth succeeding Chad Lupinacci, took two Town Board seats with wins by Sal Ferro and Dave Bennardo,  and took the highway superintendent’s job, with Andre Sorrentino defeating incumbent Kevin Orelli. They also picked up two seats in the Suffolk County Legislature, electing Manny Esteban and Stephanie Bontempi, to the 16th and 18th district jobs, and captured the district attorney’s job, electing Ray Tierney and ousting Tim Sini.

They will gather Tuesday at the Larkfield, 507 Larkfield Road, East Northport, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Earlier in the day, two longtime political figures, Lupinacci and Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, will participate in their last scheduled Town Board meeting. Cuthbertson, a Democrat, lost when he ran for the 18th Suffolk County Legislative seat; Lupinacci decided not to run again and Republicans chose Smyth to run in his place.
