Huntington Scavenger Hunt to Retrace Steps of Painter

A community-wide scavenger hunt to spot the places painted by landscape painter Edward Lange gets underway Saturday and will run through May 31.
Edward Lange, a German immigrant, worked in and around Huntington  during the 1870s and 1880s, recording scenes of the local life and scenery that he saw.
Participants will identify the eight places Lange captured in his artworks, visit local cultural organizations, and enter for chances to win raffle prizes. Take a picture at one of the scavenger hunt locations and message your photo to Preservation Long Island on Facebook (Preservation Long Island) or Instagram (@preservationlongisland). You can also submit a picture by emailing [email protected].
By retracing Lange’s steps, participants can stand where the artist once stood. Each of the clues listed  below will bring participants to a new local site in Huntington and provide a chance to compare the contemporary world to Lange’s. Follow the extra steps to a nearby historic site or museum to learn more about Huntington’s past and see several Lange paintings in person.
