Huntington School Board to Meet About Buses

The Huntington school board will convene Thursday night to consider whether to take legal action against Huntington Coach Corp.

The company said it would cut numerous routes as of Thursday and cease all service effective Oct. 8.

Superintendent James W. Polansky said Wednesday he was notified the day before that the company was canceling its three-year contract, which was signed this spring.  It cited a shortage of bus drivers as schools reopened this fall after the Covid-19 epidemic kept most students in remote learning situations.

The district and the company have worked together for 62 years.

The board will convene at 7 p.m. in executive session, followed by the public meeting at 7:30 p.m.
