Huntington Senior Center Hosts Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic

Senior citizens began receiving the Covid-19 vaccination Monday at a pop-up clinic at the Town of Huntington senior center.

Lupinacci said about 600 vaccinations were available for use Monday and Tuesday, with recipients scheduled to return April 19-20 for the second dose of the Moderna vaccine. Though all appointments  Monday and Tuesday have been filled, Lupinacci said residents can call 631-351-3253 to get on a waitlist, should an opening occur. Eligible for vaccinations at the state-run clinic are New York State residents 60 years old and up. A steady stream of people with appointments came to the center on Monday.

Deputy Supervisor Ed Smyth, Town Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, Carlos Ortiz from Sun River Health, which administered the vaccines, and Lisa Santeramo, assistant secretary for intergovernmental affairs representing Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office, participated in welcoming the clinic.

The supervisor said that the town reached out first to senior citizens through the center and that by Monday midday, all appointments were filled.
