Huntington Station Group to Provide 600 Kids With Christmas Presents

2019 HSLQ party

More than 600 children will receive Christmas presents this weekend at the Friends of Huntington Station Latin Quarter holiday celebration.

Xavier and Laura Palacios, who have been running the event for 13 years, said it has grown from about 40 children in its first year.

“We started the toy drive, because we knew there was a need in the greater Huntington area,” Xavier Palacios said. “Thirteen years and thousands of families later, we are grateful that we can provide for these beautiful children. Not only are they receiving some of the only gifts they will see on Christmas, we are providing necessities such as beds, bedding, warm coats, blankets, gloves; items that are imperative to children’s needs. We are grateful for the support of the Huntington community in 2022 as we were able to provide gifts to over 600 children. HSLQ’s motto is, ‘It’s Up To Us,’ an adage our donors also hold true to their heart.”

The Huntington Assembly of God, 1700 New York Ave., Huntington Station will host the party from 1-4 p.m.
