Huntington Opens Dix Hills Pool on Weeknights

Huntington will open the Dix Hills pool on weeknights effectively immediately.

Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci said that in addition to weekend hours, the town will open the pool at Dix Hills Park, 575 Vanderbilt Parkway, Dix Hills,  Monday through Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. to residents, who must reserve a time and wear a mask upon entry.

“In addition to opening Dix Hills Pool to residents from 11am to 8pm on weekends and holidays, we are opening the pool weeknights from 4pm to 8pm to avoid exposing our summer campers to the general public on weekdays,”  Lupinacci said. “Please remember to make a reservation online and wear a mask for entry.”

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued an ozone health advisory for Monday the area.

Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. Gregson Pigott advises that all residents, especially young children, seniors, those who exercise or are involved in strenuous outdoor work, and those with pre-existing respiratory or heart problems, limit strenuous outdoor activity. Ozone levels are often elevated after noon through early evening on hot, sunny days.

Information about ozone and health is available on the New York State Department of Health website:
