Huntington Tulip Festival Activities Set for May 5

The 19th annual Huntington Tulip Festival has been scheduled and it comes with two days worth of great events.

On Friday, May 3, the Tulip Festival sponsor’s reception at the Heckscher Museum of Art will begin at 6 p.m. and elected officials will present awards to winners of the student art contest in grades 3-8. This year’s chief sponsor for the festival is NEFCU.

The Tulip Festival will be Sunday May 5. Councilman Mark Cuthbertson – who founded the festival – and the town  announced the fun-filled schedule that is perfect for children and adults alike.

Beginning at 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., the free event will have children’s activity booths, an art exhibit and live performances on the Chapin Rainbow stage, presented by the Huntington Arts Council.

Hawaiian Artists, dancing the hula in colorful costumes will kick off the event at noon and will be followed by Christopher Agostino’s Story Faces – a spoken word performance, combined with unique visual art while performing traditional folktales and original stories. The Fuzzy Lemons will perform their kid-friendly rock show at 2:15 on the stage.

There is no charge to get in and the event will happen rain or shine.
