Impact Statement for Indian Hills Project Posted on Town Website

A draft environmental impact statement for the proposed Preserve at Indian Hills project has been posted on the Town of Huntington website.

The town Planning Board voted Wednesday to schedule a public hearing on the Northport project on Sept.18.

The Northwind Group wants to put 98 townhouses for residents 55 and up in three separate areas of the 145-acre Indian Hills Country Club, on the Long Island Sound at Breeze Hill Road and Fresh Pond Road.

Northwind said the project would preserve 132 of 153 acres, including the golf course.

The Fort Salonga Property Owners Association has been fighting the project on several grounds, including zoning and environmental impact.

The revised Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for The Preserve at Indian Hills was submitted to the Planning Department on July 23 with information requested by the Planning Department that had been missing from a previous version of the document submitted on April 17.

Town Planning Department staff had requested additional information identified in the Project Scoping that was not adequately covered in the proposed DEIS submitted on April 17. The additional information sought was primarily in the areas of natural environmental resources, water and air resources, ecological resources and community-related character and services.

The window for public review and comment period ends Oct.18. Comments can be emailed to the Planning Department at [email protected] or by regular mail to:
