Israel to Launch Global Institute at Cornell

Former U.S. Rep Steve Israel  is  heading to Cornell University this spring to launch a new academic institute, the Cornell Institute of Politics and Global Affairs.

To goal is to “raise the discourse, deepen the understanding of political affairs,” he said. “I want the Institute of Politics to be the place that New Yorkers go to for an enriched understanding of political content and enhanced access to political leaders.”

Israel started a similar institute at Long Island University after retiring from Congress two years ago. The Long Island University Global Institute is based in Brookville. Israel will remain affiliated with the LIU institute.

The Cornell Chronicle reported that the Institute of Politics and Global Affairs at Cornell will build connections among stakeholders in domestic and global politics, including political leaders, policy think tanks, the business community, international civil society and academia, quoting Provost Michael Kotlikoff. The new institute also work with the LIU nstitute to host some events on Long Island.
