Jamison Named Director of Huntington Parks

The Huntington Town Board appointed Todd Jamison as town parks director Tuesday.
“Todd Jamison’s leadership experience as a former professional football player and Huntington High School football star, combined with his coaching background in various athletics, from football to basketball and softball, and as a former small business owner, has uniquely prepared him to lead our Parks and Recreation Department,” Ed Smyth, town supervisor, said after the meeting.
Jamison has coached high school football, basketball and softball and also served as a speed, strength and conditioning coach for many years.
After playing several sports as a Blue Devil, he went on to play quarterback at St. John’s University.
The district said that he led his college team to a 26-5 record and three first place finishes in the Met-Intercollegiate Conference.

He was a two-time Associated Press All-America honoree, winning the 1983 NCAA Division III Player of the Year honors.

“Todd Jamison is the gold standard when it comes to athletics and recreation. A Hall of Fame athlete who won All-American honors as the St. John’s University football team quarterback, he loves the Huntington community with all his heart and everyone that lives here,” said Jim Hoops, the Huntington school district’s director of health, physical education and athletics.
“He has been a remarkable mentor to the young people at Huntington High School, guiding so many into college and careers and his coaching abilities are unmatched. I am sure he will bring the same commitment, energy and creativity to his new position in Town Hall. Todd is the best of the best.”
