Johanna Fiske, Retired Librarian, Dies

Johanna Goodwin Fiske, a former librarian at the Half Hollow Hills public library, died Jan. 14 in Barnstable, Mass.

She was raised in Manchester, Conn., attended the University of Connecticut and graduated from Northern Illinois University. She received a master’s degree in library science at Long Island University’s C.W. Post.

She worked at school libraries in Wilton, Maine, East Windsor, Conn., and Touro Law Center in Huntington, and was a librarian at the Half Hollow Hills public library in Dix Hills. She retired in 2006 as manager of the library’s Melville branch.

She and her husband, Phineas R. Fiske, moved to Barnstable in 2009. She served several years on the board of the Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable.

A memorial service is scheduled for the spring.
