Paul H. Johnson, a community leader and former track star at Huntington HIgh School, died Wednesday. He was 90 years old.
In 2016, the Huntington school district website recalled his achievements as an athlete, a member of the class of 1949. He served in the US Army in the Korean War before returning home for a career at the Long Island Lighting Company.
He was married to Mary for 66 years. He was father to Paul Jr., Lynda Johnson-John (Ian), and Aaron (Liz Careccia), grandfather of Paul, Andrew, Anastasia, Isabella, and Valentina, brother of Fannie and the late Earl, William, and Mattie.
Visitation is Tuesday 2-6:30 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Huntington. Masonic Service Tuesday 6:30 PM.
Funeral service Wednesday 10 AM at the church, followed by burial at Huntington Rural Cemetery Association.
