Julia Stark-Fried, Ex-School Board President, Dies

Julia Stark-Fried, who served as president of the Elwood school board until July when she stepped down, died Friday.

She had served on the Board of Education beginning in 2014 and served terms as both president and vice president of the board. Julia was an active member of the PTA, PTSA, Elwood Educational Endowment, as well as various district and board committees.

“Her passion for serving her community and doing what is best for all students was beyond comparison. Her positive contributions to the school district and the Elwood community are permanently etched in our minds and hearts,” said School Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Bossert, in a letter to the community.

She leaves her husband,  Dr. Richard Fried, and her daughters Lauren and Kimberly.
