Long Island Cares presented Babalu NY restaurant owner Alan Gotay with a plaque on Friday to thank him for his work with the agency.
In April, Gotay, a former boxer turned chef, helped Long Island Cares with a healthy eating demonstration for its member agencies, which includes soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters and humanitarian organizations that help provide healthy food to the community.
Long Island Cares CEO Paule Pachter said the Guest Chefs Fighting Hunger program has since had six similar classes to assist its clients.
