Library Recovering from Tech Attack

The South Huntington Public Library is still recovering from an attack Nov. 30 on its tech infrastructure.

After the attack, the library shut everything, including the website, computers and wireless internet access, to protect the system and preserve evidence for law enforcement.

But now programs are running, wi-fi has been restored, and its website came back this week, Catherine Schmoller, adult programmer and public relations coordinator, said. But public computers are not yet available.

Some old-school technology has helped in the process.

To notify patrons of the problems, Schmoller said she used a typewriter to post notes around the library.
