LIRR Crossing Work Underway on Park Avenue

Crews were busy working Saturday on the Long Island Rail Road crossing at Park Avenue, the first of three weekends of scheduled repairs.

Work was expected to continue through the weekend. Train service east of Huntington to Port Jefferson was suspended and replaced by bus service. The LIRR is replacing concrete rail ties between Huntington and Port Jefferson to will ensure “continuing safety and reliability” along the branch. The work will also take place Oct. 20-21 and Oct.27-28.

Access to the crossing was blocked at the Pulaski Road intersection.
