LIRR Garage Repairs Get Underway Tuesday

Repairs start Tuesday at the north parking garage at the Huntington Long Island Rail Road station.

A contractor hired by the town will replace damaged roadway joints on the roof deck.

Commuters are encouraged to use overflow lots on the west side of New York Avenue while the project is underway.

Water is leaking into the level below, requiring their replacement.

“This is one of many safety improvements the Town has in the works for the Huntington train station,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “This is in addition to our newly announced plans to renovate the north and south parking lots, replace the elevator in the North Parking Garage and repair the Town-maintained footbridge over the tracks to the North Parking Garage, thanks to the $11.35 million dollars in grant funding for infrastructure improvements the State recently approved for the Town.”
