Lites Joins 1653 Foundation’s Board

The 1653 Foundation, Huntington’s only foundation solely focused on preserving and enhancing open space in the Town, has added Barry Lites, Esq. to their Board.

Barry (Harvard Law School ’86) is the owner and principal attorney of Law Offices of Barry D. Lites, LLP, a New York-based law firm with offices in Huntington, Long Island and midtown Manhattan. Barry received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Barry serves on the board of commissioners of the Huntington Housing Authority, an agency of HUD whose mission is to develop and manage affordable housing in the Huntington community. Barry is also a member of the Executive Committee of the board of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, a member of the board of Moonjumpers, Inc. an organization supporting veterans and children’s causes, and a member of the newly-formed African- American Museum of Huntington.

Barry is also an Adjunct Professor at Hofstra Law School, teaching an International Business course. He is also a frequent panelist and lecturer on issues such as business acquisition and real estate investment.

Lites says, “The Foundation currently has a Board that has vast intellectual capital, wonderful political connections, and an aggressive agenda to which I can add, offer perspective and help see through to fruition. I have admired the Foundation’s work thus far, and I’m excited about the future and what we can do together.”

“Barry brings a wealth of knowledge, critical insight into pathways to solving problems and access to potential grant funding that we can use to create world class parks here in Town,” said Bob Bontempi, Executive Board Member.

The mission of 1653 Foundation is to restore, manage, and enhance the parklands and public spaces of the Town of Huntington. Through collaboration with Town government, various committees, partner organizations and other influencers, we desire to inform policy decisions and direct funding to select projects to further that mission. The Foundation recently raised funds toward the Peter Crippin House, donated Ballast Benches for Fireman’s Park in Cold Spring Harbor, and a new electronic scoreboard for Breezy Park. A Spring fundraiser is in the works. Go to 1653Foundation.org for more information.
