Little Shelter to Celebrate Its 96th Anniversary

The Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center will be hosting a celebration and garden party on April 29 as part of its 96th anniversary.

The shelter,  at 33 Warner Road, Huntington, says it has placed thousands of animals with families since Little Shelter opened in 1927. It works to eliminate pet overpopulation through a 100 percent spay/neuter program. The shelter also operates several programs, including an Animal Soup Kitchen, vet services, fostering opporunities, a Silver Paws program for the placement of older pets, and a reading program with pets that have been adopted from the shelter working with students with stress and anxiety toward reading.

Two adoption events are coming up. See the website for more details.

The celebration is scheduled for 3 p.m.
