LocaLI Bred Partners With Discover Long Island to Encourage Shopping Local

Halie Geller and Theresa Pinelli have been busy showcasing locally made products with their subscription box business, locaLI bred.

Not only is the pair celebrating the company’s one year- anniversary, but they have also announced locaLI bred’s partnership with Discover Long Island on its first fall subscription box.

“We’re so thrilled to be partnering with Discover Long Island on our fall subscription box,” Geller said. “DLI plays such a vital role in promoting Long Island as a world-class destination and locaLI bred is proud to support that mission by showcasing Long Island products and businesses.”

The box will help show off DLI’s newly launched retail collection that “celebrates community pride and the importance of shopping local.” LocaLI bred promotes local makers by showcasing Long Island-made products in a subscription box format, including town favorites like Bon Bons Chocolatier and Kerber’s Farm, both of which were featured in previous season’s boxes.

Since starting up last year, the two Huntington moms have sold “well over 1,000 boxes – not counting the marketplace items and smaller gift bags additionally offered.” The duo have traveled across the island, visiting shops, garages and kitchens where other Long Islanders create their own products ranging from soaps, dishes, snacks, coffees and teas, to apparel and sunglasses. They also offer company boxes for holiday gifts and custom orders for the perfect gift.

Subscribers of this season’s fall subscription box will receive a co-branded locaLI bred and Discover Long Island box filled with locally made fall-themed products, with some random subscribers receiving a piece of DLI merchandise from its new retail collection.

“We are excited to collaborate with our friends and partners at locaLI bred on the launch of our first retail collection,” said Kristen Jarnagin, president and CEO of Discover Long Island. “Engagement with like-minded brands that support locally made and branded companies will play a vital role in helping us boost community pride and educate locals and visitors on the endless benefits of living on Long Island and the importance of shopping local.”

New subscribers must register online by Oct. 1 to receive the special edition locaLI bred fall subscription box, which ships the week of Oct. 8. The subscription box is $56 and includes four different boxes, for each season.

As part of its partnership, locaLI bred and DLI will be hosting a “Fall on Long Island “giveaway through October 14th, where one winner will receive a full year of subscription boxes, items from Discover Long Island’s new retail collections, and tickets to famous Long Island spots, including Old Westbury Gardens, Argyle Theater, Cradle of Aviation Museum & Planetarium, Pindar Vineyards and LongHouse Reserve.

Participants in the giveaway can enter to win via www.localibred.com or http://bit.ly/fallonlongislandgiveaway.
