Long Island Fall Festival Canceled

The Long Island Fall Festival, held for the last 27 years at Heckscher Park, has been canceled for this year because of the pandemic.

The event usually brings thousands of people to Huntington over a long Columbus Day weekend for food, games, musical performances and more. Hundreds of vendors usually ring the park and draw residents and politicians looking for votes.

It was not known if the Columbus Day parade the same weekend is still on.

As there is no admission fees or checkpoints at the Park’s several entrances, the chamber said, it would be impossible to limit the crowds.

“This event brings residents of our community together, from highlighting our non-profit organizations, providing our youth with community service opportunities and brings communities, government and business together in a fun environment. It was a difficult decision, but the health and welfare of the Long Island and New York community is our top priority,” said Chamber Chairwoman Vita Scaturro.  “We will be back, bigger and better in 2021.  In the meantime, we are doing whatever we can to support our local businesses and encourage everyone to “Shop Local”.
