Luxury Development Kensington Estates Debuts

Political officials and executives from Triangle Equities  ceremonially broke ground Tuesday on Kensington Estates, a 55-and-over luxury housing community on the property formerly occupied by Indian Head Ranch.

Prices for one-level units start in the mid-$700,000’s while townhome prices start in the  $1.3 million range.

Sixty-six of the units are in Huntington, with another 14 in Woodbury. Sales officially open Tuesday. The sales office is located on the corner of Jericho Turnpike and Plainview Road,

Construction began in mid-December. The first unit is estimated to be completed in March, 2020 and the remainder of the initial phase is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2020.

Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci and Town Board members Mark Cuthbertson and Joan Cergol were among the participants in the opening ceremony.

The Town of Huntington provided the following information:

  • The Town Board approved a zone change to R-RM Retirement Community District in 2011.
  • The Kensington Estates site plan was approved by the Planning Board in 2013.
  • The project will contain 80 units of senior housing on property that is also partly in the Town of Oyster Bay. Of the  66 units that will be in Town of Huntington, 9 of those units will be affordable (20% of units built from the incremental change resulting from the 2011 zone change).
