Suffolk police charged a man Wednesday with the killing of a man whose body was found in Greenlawn Park in 2016.
The victim, Estiven Abrego Gomez, 18, was found Aug. 20, 2016 by a man walking through the park at around 7 a.m. Police reported the victim suffered severe lacerations.
Carlos A. Lopez-Campos was taken into custody in Owings Mills, Md., Monday by Suffolk homicide detectives with the assistance of the US Marshals Service, Homeland Security Invesgitations, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
Lopez-Campos, 26, of Owings Mills, was extradited to New York on Wednesday, arrested, and charged with Murder 2nd Degree. He is being held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
