A Deer Park man is accused of burglary and other charges after police said he broke into a home in Melville Wednesday and then fleeing in a stolen car.
Suffolk County Police said Jemel Edwards unlawfully entered the residence at 4 Jacob’s Path about 9:55 p.m.
When confronted by the homeowner, he fled through the front door with keys he stole from the house and drove away in the owner’s 2014 Toyota Camry. A patrol officer in the area located the vehicle stopped on Jacob’s Path at the corner of Waterford Drive.
Edwards, 32, of 6 North 5th St., was arrested and charged with burglary 2nd Degree, grand larceny 3rd Degree, and driving while intoxicated, 2nd offense, a felony.Edwards is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
