Man Accused of DWI After Wrong-Way Stop on LIE

A Huntington man was charged with driving with intoxicated Sunday night after he drove the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills, Suffolk County police said.

Officer Weldon Drayton spotted  a 2010 Mazda MZ6 driving toward the Expressway from the wrong direction on the off ramp at Exit 51 at approximately 10:30 p.m. The officer stopped the car as it entered the LIE traveling east in the westbound lanes.

Luis Mendoza, 34, of Huntington, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He is being held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
