A man was struck and killed by a train near the Oakwood Road crossing in Huntington Station, the Metropolitan Transportation Agency said Monday.
The accident occurred about 1:30 p.m., the MTA said.
It was not known what led up to the strike.
Train service was suspended in both directions, the MTA said. But as of 3:28 p.m., the train was moved and tracks were returned to service at that time. The 4:07 from Port Jefferson due Jamaica 5:39 was the first train out after suspension and was ultimately 14 minutes late. No other delays expected as a result.
