A man helping his daughter back up a truck and trailer was struck and killed in a two-vehicle accident in Dix Hills Friday night, Suffolk County police said.
Jose Marroquin, 68, of Buena Park, Calif., was standing on the road as his daughter, Susana Marroquin, 31, was backing up a box truck with a trailer from Heather Court onto Carlls Straight Path.
The truck was struck by a 2017 Honda traveling north on Carlls Straight Path at approximately 10:50 p.m. An object from the trailer struck Jose Marroquin.
Jose Marroquin was taken by Dix Hills Fire Department to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.
The male driver of the Honda remained on the scene. There were no other injuries.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
