An East Islip man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on the Long Island Expressway in Melville, Suffolk police said.
Jeffrey Browne, 30, was driving a 2018 black Ford van east on the LIE, near exit 50, about 10:40 a.m. when the van struck the rear of a 2007 freightliner box truck stopped in traffic in the eastbound lane.
Browne was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck, Roberto Delgado-Aaraujo, 48, from Newark, N.J., was not injured.
A safety check was conducted on the truck at the scene and released. The van was impounded for a safety check.
