Man Who Barricaded House Held for Evaluation

The man who barricaded himself in a home Tuesday, leading to the shutdown of the Five Corners area in for several hours, was arrested two years ago after carjacking a paratransit bus in Manhattan and fleeing to Greenlawn.

Suffolk County sheriff’s deputies were attempting to serve an eviction order Tuesday about 2 p.m.  at 140 Depot Road when the man, Jason Terciak, 30, allegedly said he would exercise his “Second Amendment rights, ” according to doucments on file in the court system, and held a 12-gauge shotgun and knife. Suffolk police blocked off access to several streets, including Depot Road south of Pulaski, for nearly eight hours, before persuading the man to surrender peacefully.

The homeowner. Fred DeSanti Oakcrest Association Inc., had filed a property lawsuit last March, and the eviction was ordered by Third District Court Judge C. Stephen Hackeling.

The man is being held for a mental evaluation.
