May 20 Performance to Aid 2 Countries

Musicians will perform May 20 at a cabaret-style show to raise money for two countries in Africa.

The musicians–16 songwriters among the 25 total performers–are assisting h2 Empower, which assists anti-poverty efforts in Ethiopia and Burundi.

The performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington.

Appetizers, desserts, wine, beer, and hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale and feature an art auction and raffles, Ethiopian crafts, and an opportunity to learn about h2 Empower’s accomplishments.

Reservations are suggested.Tickets are $20.

The show’s theme is based on Janice Buckner’s show “Seekers and Dreamers”  and will showcase other singer/songwriters to share their  compositions on stage.

Helen Boxwill, the founder and director of the non-profit h2 Empower, has for the past  20 years aided the education in the two countries and brought clean water to villages. They have built classrooms and libraries, provided over 95,000 books and materials to over 32,000 children, and have trained over 1,780 teachers and 200 librarians. All profits from the event will go directly to the organization.
