Melville Attorney Named to Best Lawyers Guide

A Melville attorney has been named to the 2020 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, a guide to the top practitioners in the legal field.

Jennifer Cona is managing partner of Genser Cona Elder Law. The Melville firm was named Top Elder Law Firm, and among the top three Trusts & Estates law firms on Long Island by the readers of Long Island Business News (Reader Rankings poll).  HIA-LI, a regional business association with more than 1,000 member companies awarded Genser Cona Elder Law its HIA-LI Business Achievement Award for 2018.  The firm has also been ranked the #1 Elder Law firm by the Long Island Business News for eight consecutive years.

Cona has regularly been acknowledged by her peers and clients for her outstanding legal work, dedication, ingenuity and for creating programs that support the firm and its clients.  The firm recently celebrated its 20 year anniversary.

Cona founded and hosts an annual caregiver conference that provides free, vital information for family and other caregivers.  She also launched the firm’s “Tools and Advice for Working Caregivers,” an elder care employee benefits program that provides support for working caregivers. Under her leadership, the firm has prioritized corporate social responsibility including founding “Senior Dreams Come True,” which grants wishes for Long Island’s low-income seniors.

She has been repeatedly honored as one of LIBN’s Top 50 Women in Business and was inducted into its Hall of Fame.  She was a finalist for the Athena Award in 2019 and has been on the New York Super Lawyers List since 2004.  She is the Chair, Board of Trustees, Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation (LIAF) and serves on the Board of Directors, United Way of Long Island.  She is being honored by LIAF in October for her service to the board.

The Long Island Business News Reader Rankings recognize the region’s top businesses and professional service firms as voted by the readers of the weekly business publication. The two-step process first includes a nomination round, with the top nominees progressing to the voting ballot.  This year more than 6,000 votes, the most in the competition’s three year history, were cast in 70 categories. Individual voters are limited to a onetime vote to ensure that votes cast represent an honest reflection of the opinion of the Long Island business community.

The top three finalists in each category were celebrated with a dinner and awards presentation at the Heritage Club at Bethpage.  Genser Cona Elder Law Managing Partner Jennifer Cona accepted the award on behalf of the firm.
