Memorial Day Weekend Features Commemorations, Parades, Carnival

Parades, a carnival and ceremonies to honor the war dead are scheduled around Huntington during the three-day Memorial Day weekend.

The YMCA carnival continues Friday night and raises money for YMCA scholarships. Active military and veterans  can visit vettix.org for free tickets.

Town beaches officially open Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The public is invited to join a ceremony honoring veterans Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Huntington Veterans Plaza at Town Hall.  Wreaths will be placed at the World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, and Women’s Veteran Monument and to honor our troops in the Middle East; Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. The Church of Saint Patrick’s Adult Chorale & Children’s Choir will perform patriotic songs.
