A motor vehicle accident seriously injured a motorcyclist, Gino Macchio, 25, of Dix Hills in Commack Sunday, Suffolk County Police reported. Macchio was transported to Bay Shore’s Southside Hospital.
Thomas Canale, 26, of Massapequa was driving eastbound on Jericho and attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Indian Head Road when he collided with Macchio who was driving westbound on Jericho at approximately 8 p.m.
Macchio was transported to Huntington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger in his car was uninjured.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation, by Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives, is ongoing.
