National Grid to Outline Northport Main Street Pipeline Project

National Grid will be explaining its plan to replace gas lines on Main Street at meeting set for Thusday evening.

Starting Jan..3 and running until May, the utility will be replacing the gas main pipeline on Main Street between Church Street and Woodbine Avenue.

The utility said its crews would work from 7 a.m. 3 p.m. and that no roads will be closed, though traffic will be re-routed as needed.

National Grid said that the project to place new pipelines is designed to improve safety and meet growing demand for natural gas.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Village Hall.

The public is invited to attend.
