New Hotel Opens on Historic Huntington Site

Officials cut the ribbon Thursday on the new hotel on Main Street, site of the former Huntington Town Hall.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Town of Huntington Supervisor Ed Smyth led the celebration of the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton.

Town Councilwoman Joan Cergol said, “Congratulations to George Tsunis and family for taking on this important redevelopment project that has so beautifully re-purposed the iconic and historic former Huntington Town Hall building to meet the needs of residents and visitors to our great town. This is truly one of Huntington’s most stunning examples of adaptive re-use and I am so proud to have had a hand in bringing it across the finish line.”

Tsunis, the new ambassador to Greece,  began developing the 81-room hotel back in 2013.

“This is a great addition to our town and I wish everyone many years of success,” Smyth said.
