New Huntington Boutique Opens

Cynthia Ann Boutique, seller of kids clothing, hand-glittered glassware and wedding favors opened on Gerard Street in Huntington this month. The shop, founded by CEO/artisan Kia Johnson sells pre-made and personalized tutus ($10), shirts with hand-done vinyl decals ($14), tights ($12), and headbands ($5). She does customizable bridal bundle gifts for $35 (think goblets and embroidered silk robes), bracelets, centerpieces and candles for weddings, baby showers, sweet-sixteens, graduations, and anniversaries.

Johnson also hosts arts and crafts parties and $25 “Glitz and Sips” – craft and beverage nights where patrons dip glasses into glitter (not the ones they drink from). Classes are held in her bright studio shop; the storefront is not short on window space, a positive for a new business in a town oriented towards foot traffic. And so, she’s “feeling it out” in terms of her business model and what to invest in. Johnson plans to expand into jeans and a full clothing line with a “price point comparable to Old Navy’s.” She has a demographic here in Huntington, and it is certain that many Huntington shoppers would prefer to patronize a local maker if the price is right. The question is, will people stop in?
