New Website, Meetings Over Coffee and More

In November, Huntington voters will be choosing among candidates for two open spots on the town board, the next town supervisor, highway superintendent and Suffolk County legislative seats. Campaign 2021 will periodically take a look at what the candidates are doing as they seek office.

New Campaign Website

Rebecca Sanin, the Democratic candidate for town supervisor to succeed Chad Lupinacci, has launched her campaign website at www.RebeccaSanin.com.
 
She said, “As your supervisor I’ll put my vision and compassion to work for everyone in Huntington. I am running to transform the broken systems in the Town of Huntington that have historically hindered this vibrant community from achieving its full potential. But I cannot do this alone.”
 

Blood Drive Sponsor

Earth Day Hike

Hunter Gross, who plans to primary the two designated Democrats running for the Town Board, is taking his campaign on the road.

He plans to walk Thursday from Costco in Melville to Asharoken Beach in honor of Earth Day. He will go up Route110 into Huntington Village, into Northport Village and ending at Asharoken Beach Park.

 “Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Liberals, Conservatives are all welcome to join me.  This walk is not about politics…it is ALL about ALL of us joining together as a town to take on climate change. Whether you walk for one minute, five minutes, a half hour or even the entire 14+ miles, you are pitching in by walking instead of driving.”

Gross is challenging Jen Hebert and Joe Schramm, who were chosen by the Democratic Party to fill two seats being vacated this year, one held by Democrat Mark Cuthbertson, who is running for the Suffolk County 18th Legislative District, and the other by Republican Ed Smyth, who is running for town supervisor. 

Coffee With Bennardo

Dr. David Bennardo, a Republican candidate for Town Board, has scheduled a Coffee With the Candidate for May 3. Bennardo’s campaign theme is Certain Leadership in Uncertain Times, drawing on his years as an educator, most recently as superintendent of the South Huntington school district. He is retiring from the district in July. The coffee is scheduled for Urban Coffee in Greenlawn, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sign up.
