Pharmacies have begun administering the newest Covid-19 booster, designed to designed to defeat both the original virus and its newer sub-variants.
The newest boosters are available at many drugstores, including CVS and Walgreen stores. The booster covers the virus as well as the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants of the omicron variant.
The state Department of Health said that New Yorkers ages 12 and older are eligible for a Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent booster dose at least 2 months after their previous booster dose or 2 months after completing their initial primary vaccine series.
Residents ages 18 and older are eligible for a Moderna bivalent booster dose at least 2 months after their previous booster dose or 2 months after completing their initial primary vaccine series.
