Lane closures are planned for Route 231/Deer Park Avenue starting Monday night, the state Department of Transportation said Friday.
One lane in either direction is subject to closure on Route 231 between Northern State Parkway and Caledonia Road on Monday through Friday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for approximately two to three weeks. At least one lane in each direction will remain open during this operation.
These nighttime closures will allow the contractor to mill the roadway and make necessary repairs before repaving the roadway. The contractor will also be working in preparation for repaving the sidewalk under the bridge.
As with most road projects, work may be cancelled, postponed or prolonged due to inclement weather.
This work is part of the $15.7 million safety improvement project to upgrade the interchange, including construction of a new parkway entrance ramp, extension of existing acceleration and deceleration lanes and a new traffic signal at Deforest Road and NYS 231/Deer Park Avenue.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully through the work zone, obey any speed restrictions that may be in place, and the instructions of the flag persons for their safety & the safety of the highway work crew.
