Northern State Lanes to Close for Maintenance Work

One lane of the Northern State Parkway will be closed nights starting next week, the New York State Department of Transportation said Thursday.

The closure will occur from 9 pm. to 6 a.m. every night for about three months, between Exit 33 (the Wantagh State) and exit 45 (the Sagitkos).

The shutdown is to allow for storm drain maintenance and will be in effect as long as weather permits.

Electronic variable message signs near the work zone will provide updated closure information.

Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
